NARRM’S 47-point victory at Marvel Stadium wasn’t “sexy”, to quote Steven May.

But that doesn’t really matter.

The Demons had 40 more inside 50s and 17 more scoring shots than North Melbourne on Saturday evening, grinding out a result that may have fallen the other way in seasons gone by.

“I think last year maybe that was the Adelaide game where we lose, and the team gets on a run,” May told Narrm Media post-game.

“Watching on TV you probably would’ve been frustrated – we were as well.

“But I’m glad we were able to just grit our teeth, play a system, stick to the process and grind out a win that probably wasn’t a sexy win … but still four points.”

The Dees’ ability to win in any circumstance has led them to a 10-0 start to 2022 – a record the club hasn’t held in 66 years.

“It’s certainly something I’ve never experienced,” May said.

“I just take every week as it comes and enjoy it because you never know when your next win is going to come.

“I think we have a pretty big month of footy ahead in terms of our opponents.

“As you saw today, North Melbourne definitely wanted to get up and play against the premiers – they had a crack.

“Full credit to them and no doubt our next opponent, Fremantle, is going to come to play.”
