FOR THE FIRST time in the Melbourne Football Club’s history, it has reached 60,000 members in a single season.

The Demons had already surpassed their club record of 54,454 which was set in 2021, but on Wednesday afternoon they hit this new milestone.

This comes on the back of a pre-Round 1 record where the Dees reached 51,513, accompanying a big growth in AFLW memberships, hitting the 2,000-mark for the first time.

The club is certainly celebrating this achievement with pride, but CEO Gary Pert says a bigger target remains in sight.

“This is an incredible milestone and a direct result of the belief, commitment and support shown by each and every one of you,” Pert said to members.

“While 60,000 members is an exceptional achievement, rest assured we will strive to grow the club further and have set ourselves the lofty ambition of reaching 65,000 members in 2022.

“So, if any of you know a Dees supporter who is yet to jump on board, I encourage you to remind them of the joy that comes with belonging to the red and blue legion."
