COME the 2022 Sir Doug Nicholls Round and the AFLW Indigenous Round, the Demons will be referred to as the Narrm Football Club.

Narrm, the Aboriginal name for Melbourne, comes from Woi Wurrung, the language spoken by the traditional owners of the city and its surrounds.

On Monday morning, the Melbourne Football Club gathered at the MCG, where former player Aaron Davey helped launch the new name and guernsey, designed by artist Ky-ya Nicholson Ward.

Throughout proceedings, Aunty Joy Murphy Wandin delivered a Welcome to Country, Melbourne's CEO Gary Pert spoke of the significance of this launch, and Ky-ya unveiled her design, as modelled by Steven May and Jack Viney.
