MELBOURNE young gun Alyssa Bannan has received her first NAB AFLW Rising Star nomination.

Bannan received the honour following a standout display in Melbourne’s Round 2 win over Richmond, where she collected eight disposals and two goals.

One moment of the No.16's game was a particular spectacle, the 19-year-old kicking a goal-of-the-year contender to kick-start Melbourne's second-term onslaught.

After receiving a handball from teammate Lily Mithen near the centre circle, Bannan was seen speeding down to the forward 50, outrunning her opponent and sealing the moment with a goal.

Moments after this memorable play, the Demon followed up with another impressive goal, cementing her game in the Rising Star history books.

Bannan first joined the Demons during the 2020 NAB AFLW Draft, selected with pick No.5. Her speed, agility and football smarts have continued to be an asset to the side since starting at the club.

The Demon made her AFLW debut in Round 1 of the 2021 season and has not missed a match since, becoming a reliable teammate within the side having now kicked 13 goals over her 13 games.

Bannan is the first Demon to receive a Rising Star nomination for the 2022 AFLW season.
