MELBOURNE’S Eden Zanker has collected a game-high nine votes towards the AFLCA’s AFLW Champion Player of the Year Award, after a stellar outing in the opening round of the 2022 season.

Zanker registered 20 disposals, the highest among the Demon side, along with nine kicks, 11 handballs and four tackles. The No.29 was seen impacting the game across the field, bringing composure through the midfield, while also hitting the scoreboard with a first-quarter goal.

Tyla Hanks received eight votes for her performance in Melbourne’s win, playing a major defensive role through the midfield with 10 tackles among a number of other standout statistics, including 17 disposals and 10 kicks.  

Kate Hore and Libby Birch rounded out the votes for the Demons with three apiece. Hore’s performance included 10 disposals and two goals, while Birch was a rock in the back line with 18 disposals.
