Works have commenced to enhance Melbourne’s main training base, Gosch’s Paddock which is home to the Melbourne Football Club AFL and AFLW programs.

In conjunction with the Victorian Government, Melbourne and Olympic Parks and the AFL, Gosch’s Paddock will be resurfaced and enlarged to MCG sized length and Marvel Stadium sized width and made to existing fencing and lighting.

The completed upgrade will significantly increase the club’s ability to train at the highest possible standard and allow coaches to run drills that replicate match-day conditions.

It will also allow both Melbourne’s AFL and AFLW to professionally prepare for games, with training preparations no longer being compromised due to the smaller dimensions of the current oval.

The club understands the upgrade will impact the ability for locals to use the park during this period while enhancements are made and thank them for their understanding.

The Melbourne Football Club’s AFLW and AFL programs will train on alternative ovals until the project is complete.

At this stage, the oval upgrade is expected to be completed by May 2022.
