FIRST-YEAR Casey Demons player Eliza West topped off her brilliant VFLW season last month, winning the club's Best and Fairest award.

The hard in-and-under midfielder, who received the recognition over Zoom, was damaging for the Demons around the ground and ended up finishing fourth overall for disposals in the VFLW, with an average of 22 per game.

West's impressive performances also saw her earned a place on Melbourne’s AFLW rookie list for the 2022 season.

The 24-year-old is no novice when it comes to professional sports, having played college basketball in the United States, and has also been a part of a successful touch football program here in Australia.

The top 10 placings saw West win comfortably over Casey Sherriff and Shree Fairchild.

Sherriff had a brilliant year at Casey, able to build on her experience playing in Melbourne's AFLW side - she played all 11 matches in the seniors.
