Partnerships Account Manager  

The Melbourne Football Club is the founding Club of the AFL.  Our journey started 162 years ago when we wrote the rules of the game and then became the inaugural VFA/VFL/AFL Club and still carries the distinction of being the oldest professional sporting club in the world.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated individual to join our Commercial team.

A key member within our Commercial team, the Partnerships Account Manager will have a strong focus on relationship management, new business growth and retention of the clubs commercial partners.

Reporting directly to Head of Partnerships & Fundraising, the key areas of responsibilities will include:

  • Build deep relationships with existing commercial partners to ensure that they are engaged and maximising the full value from their partnership and our services.
  • Proactively and consultatively work with partners to understand their current business objectives and align them with appropriate partnership activities such as digital and experiential activations.
  • Work with partners to collaboratively set performance benchmarks and metrics against which the partnership and specific campaigns and activations will be measured and reviewed.
  • Manage partner cost centres against budgets.
  • Identify up-sell opportunities across our Partnerships and Experiences platforms.
  • Research and prospect for potential new partners
  • Work with the sales team to prospect and secure new business opportunities to grow the club’s commercial partner portfolio.

You understand the importance of relationships and account management and have a growth mindset to drive new business and opportunity. You have a tertiary qualification (Commerce/Sports Management/Marketing or a related field) and/or can demonstrate a high level of initiative and personal drive for continuous improvement.

You will thrive in a fast-paced environment and pride yourself on your attention to detail and your capability to meet tight deadlines whilst juggling competing priorities.

You are a team player and have excellent communication skills with an ability to build positive relationships. You work collaboratively to support your stakeholders and can often be described as welcoming, approachable, and trustworthy.
