Match Preview

After a week off, the Casey Demons will play off against Essendon for a spot in the VFL Grand Final.

Essendon, who finished eighth after the regular season, have defied the odds in their two finals upsetting Collingwood and minor premiers Richmond to reach this stage.

Against the Tigers, they led for most of the contest, before losing the lead late in the final quarter. They avoided heartbreak, with James Stewart kicking a goal deep into the game to see the Bombers win by five points.

Casey earnt the week off, after a 91-point thumping of Geelong in the Qualifying Final.

In Casey’s previous clash this year with Essendon, the Demons prevailed in a low-scoring affair at RAMS Arena. It was a wet and slippery contest, with Casey holding on for an eight-point win.

The winner will advance to the Grand Final which will be played at Etihad Stadium, against the victor of Sunday’s match between Box Hill and Williamstown.

Make sure you get down to Stannards Stadium to cheer on the boys in their attempt to qualify for the big dance!
