VERSATILE big man Sam Frost won’t play against St Kilda at Etihad Stadium in round one, as he comes back from a foot injury.

Elite performance manager Dave Misson said Frost, who has been sidelined with a foot injury and did not play in the JLT Community Series, would instead play for Casey.

“Sam’s doing some really good training. He’ll join in with the main group on Friday,” he told Melbourne TV.

“He won’t play this Sunday [for Casey in a practice match], but he’ll play in the Casey practice game on the same day as our round one, so he’s going really well.”

Misson said Dom Tyson (knee), Jack Watts and Colin Garland all pulled up strongly from their first match of the season last Thursday night against the West Coast Eagles at Domain Stadium and would play for Casey this weekend.

“They played their first game of the pre-season [last Thursday night] and they all pulled up well,” he said.

“All three of them will back up and play for Casey this weekend.”

Dean Kent (knee), Jeff Garlett (hamstring), Michael Hibberd (Achilles) and Joel Smith (toe) will remain in contention for round one.

“They’re all in the same boat and they’ll do a training session on Friday and look to play for Casey on Sunday,” Misson said.

Neville Jetta, Jack Trengove, Dean Kent, Cam Pedersen, Mitch Hannan, Tim Smith, Ben Kennedy and Liam Hulett all played in the VFL intra-club last weekend, with most set to play again on the weekend.

“We played [against West Coast last] Thursday and the VFL guys played on Friday and all got through really well,” he said.

“Most of those guys will again back up for Casey again on Sunday.”
