Casey Scorpions teams: round 19

From the coach …

“We’ve got Werribee on the weekend at Casey. Werribee is aligned with North Melbourne, so it’s going to be an interesting game. It’s not season-defining, but it can really shape where we can finish the home and away season. At the moment, winning games is critical to where our destiny lies in the backend of the year. Without talking about finals, the reality is that we’re going to be right in the mix in finals. We’re going to finish in the top eight, but the most important thing is to turn up with the right attitude and mindset, plus play our brand and produce what our expectations are as a club and a VFL alignment. This game is really critical and it’s important that we drive those standards. Werribee has had some real injury concerns and challenges throughout the year, but their performances throughout the year have been very good. We go into the game with a massive amount of respect for what their best is, but in terms of us, it’s making sure that we bring that intensity that’s needed. We need to continue to play our roles, so it’s a pretty big game for our club. We just want to tick this one off and hopefully we’ll turn up with the same intensity that we did on the weekend.” – Justin Plapp
