Casey smashes Northern Blues

CASEY Scorpions have smashed Northern Blues by 107 points at Casey Fields on Sunday.

Casey 19.11 (125) d Northern 2.6 (18) to sit on top of the ladder with four wins from five rounds.

Midfielder Ben Newton was outstanding with 38 disposals and two goals.

Youngster Alex Neal-Bullen (30 disposals), defender Lynden Dunn (26) and former co-captain Jack Grimes (24 and two goals) were other standouts.

Another former co-skipper Jack Trengove also had 23 possessions and kicked a goal.

First-year forward Sam Weideman booted four goals to continue his impressive start.

Big man Chris Dawes played his first game for the season after being sidelined with a calf injury, booting two goals.

Casey takes on Sandringham at Trevor Barker Beach Oval on Saturday.
