MELBOURNE is unlikely to add a delisted free agent in the coming weeks according to general manager of operations Josh Mahoney.

Speaking to Dee TV, Mahoney said the Demons were likely to use their four picks – which it has at this stage – in the draft.

“Around the delisted free agent [scenario], at this stage, I’d say it’s unlikely [we’d use this recruiting option], given we’ve already brought in three players,” he said.

“We probably want to have those four picks as a minimum in the draft.”

In recent times, Melbourne has netted the likes of Daniel Cross and Ben Newton as delisted free agents.

Mahoney said “a few decisions” needed to be made in regards to Melbourne’s first lodgement on October 30.

“The first list lodgement is next Friday, but we’ll go away now and look at the picks that we’ve got – currently three, seven, 46 and 50,” he said.

“After that it goes out to 82, so we’ll make a decision on that (pick 82) and how many picks we want to take into the [draft].

“We’ve still got a few guys out of contract and we’ll have to make some decisions before Friday.”
