CHRIS Dawes says he’ll try to expose James Frawley’s lack of match fitness, if the former Demon-turned-Hawk lines up against his ex-side when the two teams meet at the MCG this Saturday.

Frawley has missed the past four matches with a pectoral injury, after injuring it in round two.

But the key Hawthorn recruit is a chance to come back this round against his old teammates and Dawes said the Demons were eager to make him earn his comeback.

“He’s missed about a month of footy, so he’s going to be vulnerable, in terms [of his match fitness],” he said.

“I imagine he’ll go to Jesse Hogan, [with] him being the No.1 forward.

“But if he comes to me, that’s certainly what I’ll be trying and do – work him around and try to exploit his lack of match fitness.”

But Dawes said he wouldn’t engage in any niggle with Frawley.

“I don’t think I’ll bother doing that – I’m usually too knackered out there to be bothered trying to get in guys’ heads,” he said with a smile.

“The thing with ‘Chipper’ (Frawley) is that I know his game well, but the flipside of that is he’s going to know [the game of] whoever his direct opponent is pretty well.

“He’s strong in a contest and really quick in a straight line.”
