The Demons continued from where they left off in round one,with a fine opening term.
Melbourne booted four goals to zip, as GWS managed just twobehinds.
Tom McDonald, who was best-on-ground against the Suns inround one, kicked the first goal of the match. Majors to Dean Kent, Mark Jamarand Jesse Hogan followed, as Melbourne led by 24 points at quarter-time.
Second quarter:Melbourne 7.3 (45) to Greater Western Sydney 2.6 (18)
Melbourne continued to hold sway in the second term, bootingthree goals to two, taking a 27-point lead into half-time.
Hogan became the first multiple goalscorer, when he openedthe quarter. Recruits Jeff Garlett and Ben Newton then got in on the act, withthe former Power midfielder putting the red and blue up by 32 points deep inthe term.
GWS opened its account at the five-minute mark via DylanShiel and it added its second goal just before the main break, when CamMcCarthy converted. But the Giants missed several opportunities in front ofgoal, booting six behinds from eight scoring shots in the first half.
Third quarter:Greater Western Sydney 11.8 (74) to Melbourne 7.6 (48)
After leading by almost five goals at half-time, Melbourneproduced a woeful third term.
The Giants flipped the match on its head, booting aremarkable nine goals to zip to claim a 26-point lead at three quarter-time.
Melbourne managed just three points for the term: a rushedbehind, one to Hogan and another to Kent, as the Giants dominated proceedings.
Final quarter:Greater Western Sydney 15.11 (101) d Melbourne 8.8 (56)
GWS added another four goals to start the final term,resulting in a 49-point lead – and a whopping 14-goal streak from the 29-minutemark of the second term.
With the game all but over, Newton broke the drought withhis second for the match at the 13-minute mark. It was also the last majorregistered for the day.
In the end, the Giants easily accounted for the Demons by 45points – in what was a woeful second half by Melbourne.
