THE Melbourne Football Club was saddened to hear of the recent passing of life member William "Bill" Rodriquez.

Bill began his association with Melbourne in 1965 when he helped the establishment of a Melbourne under 17 team in the fast growing Bentleigh-McKinnon area – part of Melbourne's 'zone' in pre-draft days – at the end of 1964. He also spent several years as team manager.

Later he was team manager of the Melbourne under 19 team.

Although he was thrilled at the under 19s premiership in 1971, his greatest joy throughout his time with Melbourne junior teams was seeing so many of 'his boys' become senior players.

Bill was also a member of the MFC Reserve XV111 Committee for many years and assisted in recruiting. He was afforded life membership in 1979, an honour both he and his family have always treasured.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to Bill's family and friends at this very sad time.

A funeral service for Bill will be held at St Peter's Church, Centre Road East Bentleigh on Tuesday April 7th at 10am.
