ANGUS Brayshaw says hecan’t wait to return to Melbourne after having a taste with the club earlier inthe year.

Brayshaw, who wasMelbourne’s second pick (No.3 overall) in the NAB AFL Draft on Thursday nighton the Gold Coast, said he relished the opportunity to train with the Demons in2014, when he was a member of the AIS Academy team.

“I’m feeling over themoon … there has been so much building to this moment, and everything I’ve doneover the last couple of years has led me to this,” he told Dee TV.

“I’m so happy to be atthe Melbourne Football Club, especially with Christian Petracca, who is a goodmate of mine. I can’t wait to get stuck into it because I’m so humbled andexcited by the opportunity.

“I spent a week [atMelbourne] earlier this year with the AIS, so I know a few of the guys, butcan’t wait to get back in there and train and earn everyone’s respect. It waspure relief [to get drafted] – it’s everyone’s dream to just get draftedand I’m no different but finally my dream has been realised.

“I look at guys like [Geelongcaptain] Joel Selwood and really look up to him and try to emulate him – he’ssuch a great player and so competitive, which is another thing I can bring tothe club.”

Brayshaw comes from agenuinely talented sporting family and he’s looking forward to continuing thattradition.

“Ian Brayshaw, mygrandfather – Dad’s dad – he played for Claremont and was quite the cricketer. He played for WA and he was knocking on the door of the Australian team for awhile, so it started with him,” he said.

“Then Dad played 32 [AFL]games for North [Melbourne] and then 110 with Claremont. He went all right andUncle James is more of a cricketer, who played for WA and SA, so I’m sure youcan say there is a bit of pedigree there.

“But definitely [I] getall the toughness from Mum – she doesn’t get enough credit that she deserves,so I definitely get my toughness from her,” he added with a smile.
