COACH Paul Roos says getting Jesse Hogan back on the park was simply the goal, which was achieved when the exciting youngster made his comeback for Casey last weekend.

Hogan played his first match of any sorts since February, when Melbourne lost its NAB Challenge clash to Geelong in Alice Springs. The key forward had missed most of the season with a back injury.

But Roos said Hogan came through well after Casey’s loss to Footscray at Craigieburn last Sunday.

“He played and that was then main thing – for him to play,” he said.

“It was a howling gale down one end of the field and in the second and fourth [quarters], the ball was down there [in the forward line] – but the first and third [terms] it wasn’t.

“The expectations were just to get him out there [and] this week [we want to] get him a bit more confidence and he’ll have another game.”
