COACH Paul Roos has praised midfielder Dom Tyson’s 30-disposal performance against Hawthorn at the MCG on Saturday.

Although Melbourne went down by 50 points, Tyson was one of the best on ground, with only star Hawthorn duo Jordan Lewis (34 possessions) and Sam Mitchell (30) gaining more or equaling the first-year Demon and former Giant in disposals.

Roos said Tyson had continually progressed throughout the season.

“The guy hadn’t had a pre-season [either],” Roos said post-match.

“He’s just a really good learner. He learns really well. He went to Mitchell after half-time and played a really accountable role on a terrific player.

“Dom’s season has been very, very good.”

Tyson, who entered the 2014 season with 13 games to his name and now has 32 AFL matches, has been one of Melbourne’s genuine highlights this season.

He is right in the mix to win this year’s Keith ‘Bluey’ Truscott Memorial Trophy – Melbourne’s best and fairest award – such has been his impact in 2014.
