From the father/son recruit to key forward, check out how the players wearing No.7 to No.12 are tracking this pre-season ...

7. Jack Viney
After training with the Melbourne Football Club for the past 12 months, Jack officially became a Demon via the father/son rule in October. Although familiar with Melbourne’s program over the past year, Jack has continually been eased into all sessions. He has continually given 100 per cent effort in everything he has been doing. Jack’s been a real standout in all areas of his training, particularly his football component. – Brian Royal

8. James Frawley
James has been a standout performer. He’s fit, strong and using the ball well. His leadership continues to improve every week. – Jade Rawlings

9. Jack Trengove
Unfortunately, Jack hurt his foot a couple of weeks ago, but prior to that was going strongly. He showed really good leadership throughout the pre-season period, but due to his injury, Jack will be out for up to eight to 10 weeks. – Brian Royal

10. Shannon Byrnes
A dual premiership player with Geelong, Shannon arrived at the club as an unrestricted free agent. He has since shown genuine leadership and has taken a few guys under his wing. Shannon has been really good at teaching our players on and off the field, which has been super for our forward line. Having come from a successful club, he adds a lot to our group and has been a fantastic addition to the club. – Leigh Brown

11. Mitch Clark
It’s been great to see Mitch up and about running. It gives the group a real lift to see him back out on the paddock. We’re really looking forward to seeing him join in our fooball sessions after Christmas and move into the next phase of training and then into games. – Leigh Brown
