MELBOURNE has elevated rookie list players Daniel Nicholson and Michael Evans to its primary list for the 2013 season.

The duo will enter their third season with the Demons, after being drafted via the 2011 NAB AFL Rookie Draft (held in December 2010).

The Demons have also retained rookies James Magner and Tom Couch for a second season, after the mature-age pair played senior football in 2012.

The changes come as the first list lodgement was submitted on Wednesday.

Nicholson has played 20 matches for the Demons, including 11 of the final 14 rounds this season. He missed rounds 19 to 21 with a jaw injury.

But he impressed with his overall development and run out of defence.

Evans played four matches in 2011, but missed nearly all of 2012 with a back injury.

His played a handful of matches with Casey Scorpions in the latter part of 2012 and was an emergency against St Kilda in round 20, before his back injury ruled him out for the rest of the season.

But his first match against the Saints in round nine, 2011, Evans racked up 27 disposals.

Magner had a fine first season, playing 17 matches, including Melbourne’s first 14 matches.

Couch made three appearances, after making his debut against Fremantle in round 16.

Magner and Couch were secured via last December’s NAB AFL Rookie Draft.
