A WALKWAY to the MCG has been named in honour of the great Neale Daniher.
Announced by Victorian premier Daniel Andrews on Tuesday morning, Daniher’s Way will run from the William Barak Bridge to the iconic stadium, and acknowledge the significant impact Daniher has had on the greater community.

The path is synonymous with the Big Freeze at the ‘G, where thousands come together every Queen’s Birthday, making the journey alongside Daniher ahead of the Melbourne and Collingwood clash.
Raising much-needed funds and awareness for FightMND – the foundation Daniher began when he was diagnosed with motor neurone disease seven years ago – the event is a true highlight on the AFL calendar.
“I think it’s just magnificent that Neale’s been able to be honoured in this way,” former Melbourne captain David Neitz told Melbourne Media.
“He’s just done so much, particularly over the past few years with the FightMND cause, and to think the last little part of the Big Freeze at the ‘G, when we do the walk to the ‘G, is now Daniher’s Way is a real testimony to him and what he’s been able to do.
“I’m sure a lot of people will think of him fondly as they’re making the trek into the ‘G from the city.”

Daniher has inspired many in his fight, all with a continued determination and unwavering smile.
His efforts have seen over $50 million raised for MND research, including a further $1 million contribution from the Victorian government to mark the unveiling of Daniher’s Way.
