ROOKIE midfielder Jordie McKenzie will still be eligible for senior selection for the rest of the season, after the club named him as a nominated rookie mid-season.

With forward Liam Jurrah back onto the senior list from the long-term injury list, McKenzie returned to the rookie list before being upgraded via AFL rule 21.11.1.

This means a club can nominate one player from its rookie list, who is available for selection at any time after the conclusion of round 11 and before 2pm on the Tuesday after round 22.

Every club must meet Total Player Payment requirements before a player can be named as a nominated rookie.

Jurrah returned for Casey seniors on Saturday, after being sidelined since March due to a shoulder injury.

McKenzie has played nine of his 12 matches this season, with his tackling particularly impressive.
