Melbourne breaks membership record

The support and loyalty that our supporters have shown has been incredible over the years

MELBOURNE has broken its official membership record in the 2018 season, reaching 42,234 members on Wednesday morning.

The Demons surpassed last year’s tally of 42,233, making it the third consecutive year the Club has registered a record number of members.

CEO Peter Jackson said after testing times of years gone by, it was pleasing to be able to break the all-time figure.

“This is a fantastic achievement for the Club, and something that everyone has been working hard to achieve over a number of years.”

The record comes two months ahead of 2017’s count, with time to increase it even further this year.

Melbourne still has six home games to be played at its spiritual home of the MCG in 2018, with the next being the annual Queen’s Birthday clash against Collingwood in support of Freeze MND.

Jackson encouraged new fans, as well as those who are yet to renew their membership, to jump on board and be part of the record tally.

“The support and loyalty that our supporters have shown has been incredible over the years,” he said.

“We feel that there is still plenty of growth in our supporter base and urge everyone to sign up as members in what is an exciting time to join.”
