Club finalises AFLW list with two rookies

MELBOURNE NAB AFL Women's Rookie Draft selections

Comments by Todd Patterson, AFLW Talent Manager

Selection No.6 – Anna Teague (Geelong)

“Anna played with Geelong in the VFL after captaining the Geelong Supercats in the SEABL. She was an outstanding and experienced basketballer in the SEABL. She made the transition to footy this year. She was rarely beaten as a key defender this year. We see Anna as someone who can add plenty as a rookie, particularly with her leadership. Anna is a teacher by profession.”

Selection No.13 – Maddie Shevlin (Gungahlin Jets)

“Maddie comes from the ACT. She was identified through Melbourne’s talent search. She did the testing and impressed. She’s 174cm, athletic and offers versatility. She played in Gungahlin’s losing Grand Final this year and was named in the ACT team of the year. Previously in the GWS Academy, Maddie also represented Australia in Oztag.”
