First quarter: Melbourne 2.2 (14) to Western Bulldogs 0.2 (2)

Melbourne started positively, leading by 14 points at quarter-time, booting 2.2 to 0.2.

New recruit Sabrina Frederick-Traub kicked the first goal of the match and looked dangerous in the first term, with athleticism and physical style of play.

Tayla Harris, who took a now famous Jeremy Howe-like mark last year, booted Melbourne’s second.

Second quarter: Melbourne 5.3 (33) to Western Bulldogs 2.2 (14)

Frederick-Traub continued her outstanding start, booting the first two goals of the second term.

And when Melbourne’s third of the term came via Chelsea Randall, who broke away from her opponent to snap a beauty on the run, the Dees were up by 31 points.

The Bulldogs finally kicked their first goal of the match at the 16-minute mark via Katie Brennan. She followed up with her second just before the half-time siren, reducing Melbourne’s lead to 19 points.

Third quarter: Melbourne 6.3 (39) to Western Bulldogs 4.4 (28)

Kirby Bentley booted the first major of the second half to put the Demons up by 25 points. But it proved to be Melbourne’s only goal for the third term.

Brennan bobbed up again for the Dogs, booting two in a row to reel the margin back to 13 points.

At three quarter-time, the game was right in the balance, with the Demons holding an 11-point lead.

Final quarter: Melbourne 6.4 (40) d Western Bulldogs 5.6 (36)

The final term was a tense contest. The Demons added a behind and the Dogs registered two behinds in the first 16 minutes, before the only goal for term was added via Bulldog Moana Hope late in the quarter.

But it wasn’t enough for the Dogs to produce a come-from-behind win, as the Demons held on for a four-point vitory.

Melbourne has now won all four women's matches. Daisy Pearce starred yet again and was named best-on-ground.
