PACY duo Michael Evans and Dean Kent have been named for their first match each this season, but former co-captain Jack Trengove has been left out of the side to take on Greater Western Sydney at Spotless Stadium on Sunday.

The Demons finalised their 22 on Friday, naming Kent, Evans and small forwards Jay Kennedy-Harris and Shannon Byrnes on their interchange.

Trengove has been named an emergency, along with yet-to-debut Demon Dom Barry and speedster Sam Blease, who will be a reserve for the third consecutive round.

On Thursday night, tough-nut Jack Viney was named in the starting 22, for his first match this season, after his pre-season was interrupted.

Melbourne also left out midfielders Viv Michie and Jimmy Toumpas, after they played in Melbourne’s first two matches for the season.

Manager of football operations Josh Mahoney said Viney was an important addition to the team.

“After an interrupted pre-season, Jack’s worked really hard on his fitness and has played a couple of games now for Casey. He gets his opportunity this round,” he said.

Evans has been an emergency for the opening two rounds in 2014 and Kent was an emergency last Sunday against the West Coast Eagles.

The Demons will be aiming for their first win of the season against the Giants. The match starts at 1.10pm.

Meanwhile, Mahoney confirmed ruckman Mark Jamar, who has been sidelined with a calf injury, was set to make his return to the game with Casey against Essendon at Windy Hill on Sunday.
