MELBOURNE has launched a specially designed pink jumper for its clash against the Western Bulldogs in round eight.

The Demons will wear the guernsey and pink socks as part of its support for the Field of Women event, which will take part before the match at the MCG on Saturday night, May 10.

Melbourne and Breast Cancer Network Australia launched the event at the MCG on Tuesday morning. They have called on all Melbourne supporters and football fans in general to stand as one of the 15,000 people on the MCG to form the now renowned ‘Pink Lady’ before the night match.

The New Balance-designed jumper features several Pink Lady silhouettes on a pink background in the ‘V’ section of the Melbourne jumper.

The sleeve trimmings are also pink, with a Pink Lady also wrapped around the side of the left-hand side of the jumper.

Melbourne’s major sponsor – Automotive Holdings Group (AHG) – is also written in pink on the back of the jumper.

The rest of the jumper remains navy blue, as per the traditional Melbourne jumper.

Melbourne and BCNA are also encouraging men to stand in support of their loved ones on the field in the shape of the ‘Pink Lady’, as breast cancer affects more than 15,200 women and 125 men diagnosed each year.

Tickets for Field of Women 2014 are on sale now and cost$55. The ticket price includes a pink poncho, backpack and entry to the game. All proceeds from tickets go to BCNA to ensure it can continue its worksupporting Australians with breast cancer and their families. To buy a ticket, click here.
