MIDFIELDER Jack Trengove’s surgery on a cracked navicular bone has been a success, according to elite performance manager Dave Misson.

Trengove underwent the operation last week, after it was revealed he would miss the rest of the season with the injury.

“He’s had his surgery and it went really well,” Misson told Dee TV.

“He’s due to see his surgeon [next] Monday, just to get a follow up appraisal and we’ll have some more timelines, with regard to his rehab, after he’s met with his surgeon on Monday. But he’s going well.”

In other injury news, big man Jack Fitzpatrick and tough-nut Luke Tapscott are set to resume this week.

“Tappy has rehabbed really well. He did a good training session this morning (Monday) and he’ll train on Thursday with the group and we expect him to play VFL on Sunday,” Misson said.

“He (Fitzpatrick) had a really bad case of gastro on the Saturday night [before the match] unfortunately, but he trained well and he’ll be right to play.”

Youngster Dom Barry is likely to return this weekend, after a calf problem sidelined him for Casey.

“It was just a minor calf [injury] and Dom trained really strongly this morning (Tuesday) and he’ll come out and train Thursday. He’ll be a test to play on Sunday in the VFL, but we expect him to do so,” Misson said.

But forward Dean Kent is likely to miss another week with a calf complaint.

“He was touch and go [last round], but we didn’t want to take anyone in, who may have compromised us during the game,” Misson said.

“The fact that he did it on the Friday [before the game] – he’s probably going to be a little bit short this week, so he’s probably likely to miss one more [week].”

Midfielder Viv Michie will miss another couple of weeks, due to a broken jaw.

“Viv’s going well. He’s started to do some decent running sessions,” Misson said.

“He’ll start doing a little bit of training by the end of the week. He’ll be ready, not this weekend, but in two weekends time, so that’ll end up being about four and a half weeks in total for him.”
