BERNIE Vince says he can’t wait to come up against his former teammates – and close friends – Nathan van Berlo and Taylor Walker in this Saturday’s clash against the Adelaide Crows at Adelaide Oval.

van Berlo and Walker didn’t line-up against Vince last year, when he played against his former side for the first time, and tasted victory over the Crows at Adelaide Oval in round seven.

Vince caught up with Walker, Rory Sloane and Sam Jacobs last week after the Crows were in town. But he said he was itching to come up against his former teammates this time around.

“A few of them didn’t play last year – a few of my closer mates like VB (Nathan van Berlo) and Tex (Taylor Walker) – so I’m looking forward to playing against them for the first time,” he told Dee TV.

“I’m sure Tex will have plenty to say out there.

“It was certainly weird [playing Adelaide] the first time. This time will be as well, so [I’ll] just treat it like any other game. [I’m] going over to try and win the game, although I’ll be playing against a few of my mates.”

Vince said the Demons were eager to take on the challenge of playing the in form Crows at their home ground.

“We won over there last year and just lost to Port [Adelaide], so we realise we’re up against it, but we’re going to take it on,” he said.

Vince said the team wouldn’t reflect too much on last year’s win over the Crows at Adelaide Oval, but they could definitely take some confidence from the win.

“Adelaide in a lot different position [this year], but so are we. They’re coming off two pretty good wins and are up and about. We’re in a position where we need to respond from our effort last week,” he said.

“We’ll certainly have a crack.”

Vince reflected on last round’s loss against GWS, saying it was a frustrating performance.

“Our first quarter was pretty good, we thought,” he said.

“We started where we left off against the Gold Coast and there were some signs in that second quarter that we were just lapsing a little bit. They let us off with some shots on goal.

“It was a very disappointing second half, especially, so we’re looking to respond this week, coming up against a very good side. They have had two really good wins already, so we’re looking forward to the challenge.”
