CHRISTIAN Petracca says new senior coach Simon Goodwin has all the credentials to make it as a senior AFL coach.

Petracca couldn’t speak highly enough of Goodwin, who has succeeded former coach Paul Roos.

“He’s awesome. Everyone loves him and he’s such a good bloke,” he told Melbourne TV.

“The best thing about him is that he builds relationships with young boys and he really wants to get to know you more off the field than on the field.

“He’s a great learner and listener as well and that’s the beauty of him. We tell him some stuff and he understands that.”

Meanwhile, Petracca said speedster Jayden Hunt was one of the players to keep an eye on next year.

“The biggest breakout year I’ve seen this year is Jayden Hunt,” he said.

“But I think he can definitely take it to another level [in 2017], especially when our ball movement gets better – he’s a real barometer for how we’re moving and we move the ball really fast.

“The way he is with his speed, we could definitely have another breakout year.”

Petracca added that Angus Brayshaw was another player set to rise in 2017.

“He had a pretty frustrating season [with injury] … but the way he bounced back in the last five or six weeks in the AFL was awesome,” he said.

“He’ll definitely take that into next season and have a big one.”
