CASEY Demons have appointed Garry O’Sullivan to the position of manager of Casey VFL and facilities.

O’Sullivan replaces Mark Long, who recently relinquished the role due to travel and time commitments.

General manager of Casey football Peter Maynard said O’Sullivan was an important addition to the club.

“Garry has had extensive experience in the AFL and VFL with Footscray, Richmond, Carlton and the Northern Bullants/Blues,” he told Melbourne Media.

“He is a highly-qualified football administrator and football person.

“Mark Long unfortunately had to relinquish the role due to travel and time issues, so the club was very fortunate to have someone of Garry’s experience available.”

O’Sullivan has a long history in AFL/VFL football administration.

He was previously in key general manager of football roles at the Bulldogs and Richmond.

For the past 12 years, O’Sullivan has been general manager of Northern Blues, making a significant contribution, until departing this year. He oversaw the transition of the Northern Bullants to Northern Blues.

O’Sullivan also played a major role, when the Blues made consecutive Grand Finals in 2009-10. He became a life member of the Northern Blues in 2013.
