MELBOURNE coach Simon Goodwin provides an update on all 44 players in the lead-up to the 2018 season. Be sure to check back each day for much of January, as we present this year’s squad …

Oscar McDonald
Entering his fourth AFL season, after playing 20 matches in 2017, Oscar has been one of our standouts this summer. His body has really developed into a mature AFL player over the pre-season and he’s working really closely with Jake Lever and Sam Frost. He’s been training to an incredibly high standard, which has been particularly impressive.

Tom McDonald
Tom returned from rehab just before Christmas, after having some minor post-season clean-ups on both ankles. He’s working in the forward line and developing his skills in that area, after spending more time there in 2017. Over the January/Febraury period, we’ll be looking for him to really develop some chemistry with the other forward line players.

Pat McKenna
Pat had a challenging first season with us, after joining from GWS Giants. He missed the majority of 2017 with setbacks to his hamstring. He’s been in rehab through the pre-season and is recovering from post-season surgery. Pat will gradually build-up his training program and look to come back into the main group throughout January/February.

Jake Melksham
Jake played 19 games upon his return to the game in 2017 and kicked at least one goal in his final 12 matches for the season. He came back to pre-season training ready to go. He was working with the forwards and we’re excited about the type of player that he can continue to develop into. He showed some huge progression last year and we want to see that again in 2018.
