THE WET AND WINDY conditions didn’t deter Melbourne’s playing group from having a great time running clinics in rural Victoria.

Travelling to Traralgon, Warracknabeal and Leongatha, the players ran a series of clinics with local school children and sporting clubs. Throughout the day, the players were able to spend time with over 800 children.

From group photos with Jack Watts to quizzing Max Gawn about his height, the players were certainly ‘king of the kids’.

Ben Soumilas, teacher at Leongatha Primary, said “Having the players come out here is great. The students have been so excited and it’s great to see the students being so active and having so much fun.”

The players took the children through a range of skills including tackling and marking, which proved very popular amongst the children.

“I’ve had so much fun! I liked tacking the best”, said Emma from Leongatha Primary School.

Despite the high energy clinic, the children weren’t too puffed to discuss with the players the best way to maintain a healthy lifestyle and get insights about being an AFL footballer.

Each year, the player group visits rural Victoria to give back to children who can’t make it to the MCG.
