In episode twenty-six of Inside Melbourne, Clint Stanaway and Caty Price chat to Sam Frost ahead of Melbourne’s Semi Final against Hawthorn. We discuss Friday night (1:30), Sam’s solid form down back (9:30) and look ahead to Hawthorn (12:55). Plus, we take your questions from the outer (17:50).

SAM Frost says accuracy for goal will be a focus leading into Friday night’s semi-final clash against Hawthorn at the MCG.

Although Melbourne kicked 5.3 to 0.2 in the opening term of its win over Geelong Cats in the first elimination final at the MCG last Friday night, it booted 1.10 during the second and third terms.

Despite the inaccuracy, Melbourne’s outstanding start allowed it to hold sway.

And when the Demons kicked 4.2 to 3.2 in the final term, the red and blue gained a 29-point victory to advance into the second week of the finals.

But Frost, the key Melbourne defender, said conversion would be critical against the Hawks.

Speaking on Inside Melbourne, Frost said: “If you look at the first quarter and the score line of the first quarter, and you think ‘well, if a lot of those behinds for the next two quarters were goals, then you’ve really buried them and sealed it early’, which would’ve been nice,” he said.

“But we’ll take the win … although we really could’ve shut the door [earlier].”

But Frost praised the start by key forward Tom McDonald, who kicked the first goal of the match.

“That helped with the nerves, because we go forward and Tommy takes a mark and then you’re settled and you think ‘we’re on and things are going our way’,” he said.

“That does settle the nerves for sure and he was unbelievable early on.”
