STAND-IN skipper Mitch White is the round two King Gee Trademark Player of the Week after his efforts in the win over Werribee.

The rebounding half-back took over captaincy duties for the night in the absence of the injured Jack Hutchins, setting the tone early with nine first quarter possessions.

At a rainy Avalon Airport Oval in Werribee, White continually repelled the home team’s attacking movement and finished the night with 16 touches overall.

Casey Demons coach Jade Rawlings said White was a crucial factor in the win.

“Whitey was outstanding against Werribee as our stand in skipper,” Rawlings said.

“He was courageous, strong and assertive over the four quarters. He is still improving as a player after being on an AFL list for three years.

“Mitch has the respect of the Melbourne listed players, the Casey listed players and the coaches.”

For his best-on-ground performance, White wins $150 voucher to spend on King Gee gear.
