MELBOURNE has lost more than 600 games of experience with the departures of skipper James McDonald, Brad Miller and Cameron Bruce, but midfielder Colin Sylvia says there are still enough older heads left at the club to guide its young list.

This year's best and fairest winner Brad Green is the only Demon to have played more than 200 games, while Sylvia, Brent Moloney, Aaron Davey and Jared Rivers will also need to stand up next year as the only other players to have exceeded 100 games.

But these five won't have to carry the responsibility alone and will soon be joined by the likes of All-Australian ruckman Mark Jamar, Joel Macdonald and Nathan Jones, who are on track to reach the milestone next season.

"It is disappointing to lose Bruce and I suppose James and Brad Miller as well; there's a lot of experience gone there," Sylvia told afl.com.au.

"We've just got to fill that void now with all the younger players coming through and make up that slack so the responsibility is on us older guys.

"We wrote up on the board the other day a list of players who have played senior football and there are a lot of guys who have played 50 plus [games] and there are a lot of guys who will play over 100 games next year."

Sylvia took seven seasons to reach the milestone, notching up his 100th match in round 19 this year against Richmond.

The midfielder has yet to play a full season of football since arriving at the club in 2004, with 18 games the most he has managed in a year.

The 25-year-old said his focus for 2011 was to play all 22 home and away games after missing several matches this year with a broken jaw and then a blood clot in his toe.

"The body is definitely feeling the best it ever has," Sylvia said.

"I've probably had a few uncommon re-injuries over the past. My number one goal next year is to get through a full season with some consistency and have a full year for once."
