INS – Bowey
OUTS – Laurie (omitted)

MELBOURNE has made one change to its Thursday night line-up, calling on Jake Bowey to bolster the Demon side.

Bowey will make his return to footy after eight weeks on the sidelines following shoulder surgery.

The young defender will bring a wealth of talent to Melbourne’s 23, set to provide energy and poised skill across the backline.

"[Jake’s] done an incredible job in his rehab,” Simon Goodwin told media Wednesday morning.

"The work he's done, the physical preparation to get himself back in this position - we're really confident with his training the last few weeks that he's ready to go.

"I think that's exciting for our club. He's a high-quality player."

Bailey Laurie has been omitted from the Round 9 side and will join Ben Brown and Marty Hore on the team’s emergency list.

While the game will be played at Melbourne’s spiritual home of the MCG, the match is Carlton’s to host, meaning Dees fans will need to purchase tickets to the game here.

The Thursday night blockbuster will kick off the round and is set to be a tough top-eight battle.

Carlton will be looking to bounce back from its loss to Collingwood, while the Dees are heading into the game off a statement win over the previously undefeated Geelong.

The bounce is scheduled for 7:30pm (AEST), and supporters can catch all the action live on the Seven Network, Kayo Sports and Foxtel.
