JACK Viney says he’s relishing playing on some of the best midfielders in the business and has set his sights on having another crack at St Kilda gun Jack Steven.

Viney, who played on Steven, when Melbourne fell two points short to the Saints in round 11 at Etihad Stadium, said the 2013 St Kilda best and fairest winner was his most likely opponent for Sunday’s clash at the MCG.

For the record, Viney had 24 disposals to Steven’s 21 when they met last time.

“I played on Jack Steven the last time we played them and he’s been playing some really solid football,” Viney told Dee TV.

“I assume that I’ll be going to him, but I haven’t really talked to the coaches yet about my role on the weekend.

“Just from personal [experience], I’d probably say I’m going to Steven.”

Viney, who has played on the likes of Gary Ablett and Joel Selwood this year, and Tom Rockliff last round, said he thrived on running with the elite ball winners in the game.

“I’m loving it at the moment,” he said.

“To be able to come up against some of the best players in the competition is a massive learning experience for myself – I get to see how they go about it.

“Not only am I trying to limit their impact on the game, but I’m trying to have an impact for our team and help us win.

“I’m enjoying the role and feel like I’ve been performing consistently this year and I look forward to trying to finish off the year pretty solid.”
