Ball movement coach Mark Williams speaks exclusively to melbournefc.com.au in the fifth of a nine-part series about how the Melbourne players are tracking this pre-season

Neville Jetta
Neville has been in the rehab group, after having a couple of operations in the off-season. His defensive part of his game is fantastic. His tackling and chasing are among his major strengths, but he needs to keep working on his kicking and this will continue to be a focus. He needs to get his body to the stage where he can have a strong season.

Cameron Johnston (rookie)
Cam came to us from the Geelong Falcons. We were really impressed with him over the pre-season. He was one of our train-on players. Cam’s commitment was really impressive. He got up at 5 am every day and caught the train from Geelong to get to training. In that time, his intensity was very good. Cam needs to continue showing those attributes, so that he can become a senior player going forward.

Nathan Jones
Jonesy finished off last season with a broken bone in his back, and his rehab has since been meticulous. He gives himself every opportunity by the way he presents himself. He has continued to step up as a leader over the pre-season. He needs to continue to digest and be open to the different roles we want him to play, because he offers us flexibility. He can be a real weapon for us, given his desire.

Liam Jurrah
This is Liam’s first full pre-season, although he is entering his third season. We all know how exciting Liam is - you only had to watch the match in China to see him turn it on. He is such a benefit to the team, so he needs to continue to get his body right and pace himself through the rest of the pre-season. Then, we need him to hit the ground running come the season proper.

Kelvin Lawrence (rookie)
The recruiters were really pleased that Kelvin was still available when our selection came about. He’s a very exciting player. Kelvin is a small forward who possesses some x-factor. Like all young, interstate players, we’ve got to make sure he settles into Melbourne, which is really important. Hopefully by being settled in this environment, we can get the best out of Kelvin.
