MELBOURNE has made two changes ahead of Sunday’s Qualifying Final against Brisbane, welcoming Jemma Rigoni and Molly O’Hehir back into the line-up.

O’Hehir returns after proving her fitness during the week, adding energy and defensive pressure around the contest. Rigoni also earns a recall, bringing her trademark speed back into the lineup.

Maeve Chaplin will miss this weekends clash after sustaining an injury at training, while Laela Ebert has been omitted.

Melbourne’s General Manager – AFLW, Clare Pettyfor, provided an update on the defender.

“Maeve unfortunately was involved in an innocuous incident at training on Wednesday. Scans taken later that day confirmed that she has a hamstring strain,” Pettyfor said.

“This is obviously incredibly disappointing for Maeve, who is an important part of our team not only as a player but as a leader.

“While our high-performance team is still formulating her return to play timeline, we won’t completely rule out a return to the field this season.”

The Dees will head to IKON Park full of confidence as they look to make a strong start to their finals campaign, with the first bounce set for 1:05pm (AEDT).
