INS – Viney
OUTS – Langdon (ribs), Dunstan (omitted)
NARRM will welcome the return of its vice-captain Jack Viney in this weekend’s match against Fremantle.
Viney was a late out in Round 10 but has been named back in the starting side after a strong week on the track.
Unfortunately, Ed Langdon will miss Saturday’s game due to a rib injury sustained in last week’s match.
Toby Bedford, who was activated as the medical substitute for Langdon, finds his spot in this week’s starting line-up.
Luke Dunstan has been omitted from the final 22, but will join Bailey Laurie, Adam Tomlinson and Sam Weideman on the team’s emergency list.
Saturday’s match will mark the second week of league’s Sir Doug Nicholls Round, which celebrates and acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history and culture.
This will also be the second week that the Demons will run out in their 2022 Indigenous guernsey, designed by Wurundjeri/Dja Dja Wurrung artist Ky-ya Nicholson Ward. The jumper encapsulates the Wurundjeri culture, representing the land on which Narrm’s spiritual home of the MCG sits.
Round 11 will also see Demon Jake Melksham celebrate an incredible individual achievement.
Melksham will play in his 200th career game, an achievement that is testament to his impact on the league over the past 13 years.
The 30-year-old began his AFL career with Essendon when he was drafted with pick No.10 at the 2009 National Draft.
He played 114 games for the Bombers, before making his way to the Demons in 2016. Having now played 85 games in the red and blue, Saturday will be a special moment running out alongside his Narrm teammates for the milestone.
The Demons are encouraging their members and supporters to join them on Wurundjeri Land at the MCG for the match, with tickets available here.
A Welcome to Country by Aunty Joy Murphy Wandin will occur at 4:20pm, with the first bounce scheduled for 4:35pm.
You can see the full Round 11 team below.
For the duration of Sir Doug Nicholls Round, the Melbourne Football Club will be rebranded and referred to as the Narrm Football Club.
