JACK Viney will be eager to pull on the Narrm kit come Saturday afternoon, having been a late out last weekend, missing Round 10 with hamstring awareness.

Coach Simon Goodwin this morning confirmed that the Demon was beginning to get back into the swing of full training and would look to play this weekend.

“Vines is raring to go,” Goodwin told media.

“He was knocking on the door on Monday.

“He was a little bit tight in the hamstring heading into last week’s game, so we didn’t want to risk him.

“But come Monday he was raring to go, so he’ll train fully today and we’re expecting him to be suiting up [on Saturday].”

Viney wasn’t the only Demon to join the injury list this past week, with Ed Langdon sidelined following a hard hit during the first quarter of Narrm’s Round 10 game. 

Langdon was subbed out with a rib injury, but with positive scans showing no internal damage, the star wingman could be a possibility to play this weekend.

“He’s getting better day by day, so we’ll give him right up until game time,” Goodwin said.

“We’ll give him a good test over the next few days and see where he’s at.

“We certainly won’t take a risk with him, if he’s sore at any stage, we won’t play him, but he’s progressed well over the past 24 hours.”

The Demons are preparing for one of their biggest challenges in 2022 so far, taking on the fourth-placed Fremantle on Saturday at the MCG. 

"They’ve clearly played in some tough conditions in the last couple of weeks, but we’re looking forward to playing Fremantle at their best and it should be a really good game," Goodwin said.

"When anyone gets challenged, as a footy club or individually, you expect a response and that’s what we’re expecting from Fremantle.

"They’re a good team, they’ve got a great system, they’re well coached and they’ve some really talented players. 

"So, we’re certainly expecting them to be at their best and we welcome that challenge, we’re looking forward to it."

For the duration of Sir Doug Nicholls Round, the Melbourne Football Club will be rebranded and referred to as the Narrm Football Club.
