ON THE LAST day of July in 2021, the Demons took to the sky for their Round 20 clash with Gold Coast.

This flight never landed in its intended location, with a COVID-19 outbreak in Queensland forcing a detour to Brisbane Airport.

Eight hours after the flight took off, the Dees landed back on home soil, with their match rescheduled for the following morning at Marvel Stadium.

Coming off a loss to the Western Bulldogs, the Demons responded with a 98-point win in Jake Bowey’s debut, which in hindsight, was the start of something pretty special.

Now, 293 days later, Narrm has returned back to Marvel Stadium, without losing a game since.

A 17-match win streak has unfolded, with a premiership in between.

The Demons currently sit undefeated after 10 rounds for the first time since 1956, with records continuing to tumble.

That year, the club won its opening 13 matches, which is a streak that stands to this day.

It also won 19 consecutive games across 1955 and 1956, which is its longest run of victories.

The record for most consecutive wins of all-time sits with Geelong, achieved across 1952 and 1953.

While the Dees won’t be focusing on creating any history internally, if they do continue their winning run, there are some records in sight.

For the duration of Sir Doug Nicholls Round, the Melbourne Football Club will be rebranded and referred to as the Narrm Football Club.
