MELBOURNE’S 2022 AFLW fixture has been confirmed, with the competition’s sixth season set to begin on Friday 7 January.

The Demons’ opening game against the Western Bulldogs was announced last night, with the blockbuster match confirmed for Saturday 8 January at VU Whitten Oval. The game will be broadcast via the Seven Network with the first bounce at 7:00pm (AEDT).

Melbourne's fixture will see it host four home games at Casey Fields – Round 3 (St Kilda), Round 5 (Gold Coast Suns), Round 6 (GWS Giants) and Round 8 (North Melbourne).

Throughout the 10-game season, the Dees will travel interstate on three occasions facing Adelaide in Round 4 (Norwood Oval), Brisbane in Round 7 (Maroochydore Sports Complex) and Fremantle in Round 9 (Fremantle Oval).

The clarity around the upcoming season provides plenty of excitement to the Dees' group, with General Manager, Football Operations and AFLW Marcus Wagner looking forward to getting started.

“We are very excited with today’s fixture release and the relative stability it gives us moving into the season,” Wagner said.

“We feel the fixture gives us great scope to discover how much our group has grown, as we strive for success.

“Mick and the players have had a really solid pre-season, and now they have a tangible target for Round 1 in the Western Bulldogs.”
