Player Bio

Like Christian Salem, Tyson had a strange start to the season when he dislocated his kneecap at the Demons’ pre-season boot camp. The midfielder missed the opening round of the year, but returned in round two. He averaged 25.3 disposals in 19 games and was an important cog in Melbourne’s deep midfield. Missed two games in the middle of the season with a knee injury, but bounced back to play out the rest of the year. His clearance work remains a strength and, when he is at his damaging best, he is hitting the scoreboard on a regular basis.

Player honours: Melbourne 2nd best and fairest 2014; NAB AFL Rising Star nominee 2012.

Previous AFL club: GWS Giants (2012-13: 13 games, 4 goals).
Draft history: 2011 NAB AFL Draft 1st round selection (GWS Giants) No. 3 overall; 2013 NAB AFL Draft traded by GWS Giants for No. 2 (Josh Kelly), No. 20 (Jack Leslie) and No. 72 (not utilised).
