DAISY Pearce’s football comeback is on track, as the star Demon prepares to return after giving birth to twins earlier this year.

The 31-year-old missed the 2019 AFLW season after welcoming children Sylvie and Roy to the world in February, but she’s already turned her attention to getting back to full fitness.

“I’m in the pre-pre-pre-season at the moment,” Pearce said on SEN Breakfast on Wednesday morning.

“I started back at probably about 10 weeks after they were born. It didn’t look much like football training at that point, it was very much rehab – get my body right and the foundations right so I could start building up from there.”

Pearce has been one of the league’s biggest names since its formation three years ago, starring for Melbourne in the midfield during the opening two seasons.

The dual best and fairest winner has had to take her pregnancy rehab slow, but she is now beginning to increase her workload.

“I’m back now. I do three sessions a week with the club,” she said.

“I’m starting to move now into more football-based training.”

Despite having to significantly change her training routine over the past year, Pearce has been able to maintain a level of fitness that will hold her in good stead as she pushes for a Round 1 recall next season.

“My fitness was actually alright. I did a lot of swimming during the pregnancy and didn’t feel fit at the time … but once they were born, I was actually fitter than I thought I was,” she said.

“It was a bit like altitude training – you’re training under the strain of them.

“But my strength is gone completely so that’s what I’m working on at the moment.”

The official AFLW pre-season will kick off in November, before season four of the competition commences in February.
