MELBOURNE has named youngster Shelley Heath to debut in its must-win clash with the Western Bulldogs at Marvel Stadium on Saturday night.

The 18-year-old was recruited by the club with pick No.44 in the 2018 AFLW Draft and will add a flare to the Demons side.

Heath stands at just 160cm, but she’s as tough as they come with a unique background in Taekwondo.

Ashleigh Guest was the unlucky Demon to make way for Heath, as the red and blue look to stay in touch with the top-two with a win on Saturday night.

The Demons are currently sitting fourth on the ladder in Conference A and must defeat both the fifth-placed Dogs and the Adelaide Crows in their final two games of the season.

With a potential finals berth on the line, Melbourne don’t have to look far for motivation, but if the Dees need any extra driving factors, they can reflect on their fierce rivalry with the Dogs.

Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs have a rich history in the AFLW playing the inaugural women’s match in 2013.

But in more recent times, the Dogs have caused Melbourne heartache with a two-point upset in the last round of 2018 – a margin that resulted in the Dees finishing in third place last season.

With a shot at redemption on Saturday, the Round 6 clash at Marvel Stadium will kick off at 7:10pm and it will be a part of a double-header at the venue with Collingwood hosting North Melbourne from 4:40pm.
