MELBOURNE’S Steven May and Tom McDonald will take part in realestate.com.au’s AFLX 2019, after being selected in the tournament’s Draft on Wednesday night.

Picked in opposing teams, May joins Eddie Betts’ Deadly squad, while McDonald is set to be a target up forward for Rampage, headed by Jack Riewoldt.

The inaugural Draft event saw captains pick 12 players to fill their teams, with a total of four players per AFL club available for selection.

May, who was taken at pick no.24, will play alongside vice-captain Shaun Burgoyne, former Gold Coast SUNS teammate Jarrod Harbrow and the Draft’s top selection in Bradley Hill.

The 27-year-old’s group will have a further tie to the red and blue, wearing an Indigenous guernsey designed by Melbourne’s own Neville Jetta. With elements of ferocity and speed, and its deadly nature, the design represents the respect the Indigenous community have for fire.

Drafted in round eight of selections at pick no.30, McDonald will also line up with some of the game’s best in vice-captain Patrick Cripps, Adelaide’s Rory Sloane and new Bomber Dylan Shiel.

A fast and different version of Australian Football, the tournament focuses on children and families, with kids’ zones, entertainment and a superhero theme providing a unique game day experience.

The event will showcase four teams, including Patrick Dangerfield’s Bolts and Nat Fyfe’s Flyers, as the different format highlights the game’s most thrilling aspects and introduces some new rules.

The realestate.com.au AFLX tournament will take place on Friday 22 February from 7pm AEDT at Marvel Stadium, in a one-night only event.

Tickets are now on sale, with kids under the age of 12 gaining free entry.
