LAST week the Melbourne Football Club held it’s annual Foundation Heroes and Foundation Legends event at Metropolis Events, Southbank.

With 300 guests in attendance - along with Melbourne players and coaches - the event was a chance to acknowledge generous financial contributors who have helped support valuable on and off field initiatives at the club.

Attendees were provided with an exclusive football insight by Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin, while club vice-chairman Geoff Freeman also recognised the influence those in attendance had.

Number one Foundation Hero – and the only Ruby Red level Foundation Legend – David Thurin also spoke about what the Melbourne Football Club means to him and why he chooses to contribute generously.

In it’s 11th year, the Foundation Heroes supporter group was established by former club president, the late Jim Stynes and Don McLardy, to help eliminate the club’s debt at the time.

Since that day, the Foundation Heroes and Legends group has gone on to become the most successful supporter group in the league.
